Menstrual Hygiene Awareness
Breaking Barriers, Restoring Dignity
The Annual Menstrual Hygiene Day campaign by The Ike Odoeme Foundation focuses on ending period poverty and stigma while ensuring every girl and woman has access to safe and sustainable menstrual products. This initiative promotes health, education, and equality by addressing the challenges girls and women face in underserved communities.
Key Activities
Distribution of Menstrual Kits: Providing reusable and disposable menstrual products to thousands of girls and women.
Hygiene Education: Organizing workshops on menstrual health management to debunk myths and foster informed practices.
Community Engagement: Partnering with schools, community leaders, and health practitioners to promote open dialogue about menstrual health.
Impact Over the Years
Since launching this campaign, we have distributed over 2,000 menstrual kits, educated countless individuals, and reduced absenteeism among schoolgirls due to menstruation.
“When we empower women and girls to manage their health with dignity, we empower entire communities. This campaign is not just an event; it’s a movement toward equity and awareness.”
Breast Cancer Awareness
Spreading Awareness, Saving Lives
Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women in Nigeria, and awareness is key to early detection and treatment. The Ike Odoeme Foundation’s Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign educates, supports, and provides free screenings to women in underserved communities.
Key Activities
Free Screenings and Checkups: Partnering with healthcare professionals to offer early detection services.
Educational Workshops: Teaching women about symptoms, self-examinations, and the importance of early detection.
Emotional and Financial Support: Connecting patients with resources for treatment and recovery.
Impact Over the Years
Through this campaign, we have screened over 200 women and girls, detected cases early, and provided life-saving interventions. The campaign has also created a ripple effect of awareness, empowering women to take charge of their health.
"Awareness is the first step toward prevention and cure. By creating safe spaces for dialogue and action, we are changing the narrative around breast cancer in Nigeria. Together, we can save lives."
